Record Books
All 2008-2009 Lafayette County 4-H members who wish to exhibit at the 2010 Lafayette County Fair MUST submit a record book for the 2008-2009 project year. This policy does not apply to Cloverbuds and Explorers. To fulfill this requirement, each member must complete a minimum of the information page in a green 4-H record book cover and submit it by their CLUBS deadline. Completing record sheets for activities and projects teaches youth the value of record keeping (as adults, we know the importance of keeping good records at both home and work), as well as providing a summary of work accomplished for the 4-H year. Clubs are encouraged to give recognition to the youth who have excelled in a varity of categories, such as best story, most colorful record book, best artwork and best use of computer graphics. Merit winners are then chosen from each club. These categories allow their book to become more of a scrapbook/portfolio. Information from record books is also useful in completing applications for a variety of awards and trips. Parents and leaders should encourage 4-H members to use the record book to tell their 4-H story for the year.
